THE PROJECT
Develop a suite of resources that support the promotion of Australia Post’s Pen Pal program for schools in Australia.
WHAT WE DID
Kimberlin Education was provided with a short story created by Australian author Sally Morgan, telling the story of four children around Australia who correspond with each other through letters.
To support the new storybook, Kimberlin Education created 7 lesson plans for primary school students which celebrated the art of letter writing and aimed to improve students’ creative writing skills. We also created supporting resources in the form of activity sheets and Interactive Whiteboard resources to create an engaging program for students of age 5-12. Teachers could use these resources independently or sign up their class to be part of the Pen Pal scheme across Australia and be connected with another school in a different part of the country.
THE REPORT CARD
After the launch of the Pen Pal Club in mid 2019 there was an outpouring of social media engagement from teachers and organisations across Australia. This saw over 3,000 registrations to the Pen Pal Club program within 1 month. There was an influx of positive feedback about the resources from teachers across the country.
